Ingredients

  • 450g plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp caster sugar
  • 1 tsp bread soda
  • 325 – 245ml buttermilk

Method

  1. Sift all ingredients a bowl. Mix well and add milk slowly.
  2. Bring all ingredients together but no need to knead.
  3. Transfer to a baking tray. Shape into a circle and cut a deep cross into the loaf.
  4. Bake at 230° C for 15 minutes and reduce to 200° C for a further 30 minutes.
